The Minister of Foreign Affairs (Hawaiian: Kuhina o ko na Aina E) is the primary representative for the Kingdom of Hawaii in all foreign affairs, treaties, tariffs and all diplomatic issues. Foreign Affairs includes all foreign relations with other nations and the promotion of international cooperation for security, economic and Hawaiian cultural awareness. The Minister of Foreign Affairs shall develop strategies to promote Hawaiian interests throughout the world.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs is the lead negotiator in all foreign relations and forms policy in all foreign matters. Considering foreign investment, trade and commerce; the Minister of Foreign Affairs works with the Minister of the Interior and Minister of Finance to achieve fair and equitable agreements with other nations.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs is a powerful office as established through historical records from the Kingdom of Hawaii. It makes up one of the four offices of the monarchical cabinet which advises the King of Hawaii on executive affairs.
Ministers are also ex-officio members of the Privy Council and the House of Nobles in the legislature and ex-officio members of both houses of the legislature.
